Thanks for taking interest in our Challengership! On this page we tell you what to expect if you want to enroll.

Our Challengership in 4 steps

1. Brief introduction via Google Meet

Before we get started, we’d like to get to know you a little better. We are very curious to know what motivates you to start a career in IT. We will also check if you meet the entry criteria. If we have mutually decided to start the recruitment process, you will receive an invitation to our Challenger Try-out.

2. The Challenger Tryout.

During the Challenger Try-out, we invite you to do a number of online activities within half a day. At the end of the tryout, you will know immediately if you can enter our Challengership and if so, when you will be introduced to an organization that has a suitable assignment for you. So, you know what your options are right away! The Challenger tryout consists of playing a number of games, a small programming test, and an informal interview. Through these activities, we will be able to establish a clear profile of you and know whether you are cut out to become a Challenger.

The Challenger Tryout in detail:

Programming Test
During the programming test, you will solve a simple programming challenge in 10 to 20 minutes, in a language of your choice (JavaScript, Python, Java, C# or php). This will give us insight into your current skill level in programming.

Games
You will play four online games that map your brain. Based on those games, we get a good idea of your cognitive abilities. We gain insight into how you observe, think, decide, organize and act. And we do all that while you’re just gaming! Based on your brain profile, we will see if you are a match for our Challengership. Is there a match? Then you continue with the interview. Is there no match? Then after this step, we’ll say goodbye and you’ll receive a valuable report from us about your brain profile.

The games are fun and challenging to do, but also fully science-based. Neuroscientists at BrainsFirst have spent years researching the brains of elite athletes. In doing so, they mapped the biological building blocks of human performance. They then translated this into games that capture in detail where your brain skills lie.

We are very happy with these games, because they allow us to do an excellent job of assessing the potential of our candidates. Even from candidates who might not normally be as good at taking tests.

The Good Talk
The final part of the Challenger tryout is about your personality. Based on a number of personal core competencies obtained from your game results, we will start a conversation with you. Your personality profile gives us a lot of insight into your way of working and the organizational culture where you could feel at home.

At the end of the Challenger tryout, we will decide whether to offer you a Challengership. So within a few hours you will already know if we will continue together!

 

3. Getting to know your Challenge.

After successfully completing the Challenger Try-out, we ask you for two weeks of exclusivity. This means that during these two weeks you will not engage with other organizations, but you will really go for the Young_Coders Challengership. We will then carefully match your brain profile with the organizational profile of our clients so that we can be sure that on paper there is already a good “cultural fit”. Together with someone from Young_Coders, you will get acquainted with the organization. This usually happens within a week. Both you and the organization will decide if this Challenge suits you.

 

4. Starting your Challengership

If we come to an agreement, we can start your Challengership. We’ll communicate the start date with you and you’ll immediately receive an indefinite contract that starts on the agreed upon starting date. We invite you to an introductory morning where you will also receive your goodie bag with handy items to make your start as easy as possible.

You are (almost) graduated from a university (HBO/WO) study or have a bacholors or academic thinking level;
  • You are welcome even without a bachelors or academic degree, but it is important that you already bring valuable work experience or programming knowledge. Otherwise, it is difficult to find a suitable client for you.
  • Do you still need to finish a few courses, but are close to graduating? In some cases, this is not a problem. You can then pass your final courses during the Challengership.
You already have some basic programming experience;
  • For example, through a minor at school or hobby.
  • No experience yet? Then follow the Challengership Track on our e-learning Academy To get the right basic programming skills for a Challengership!
You are at the beginning of your career;

For most people, this means graduating no later than three years ago.

You are available full time;

The Challengership is an intensive work-learning program for which you must be available 36 to 40 hours a week.

You live in the Netherlands and may work here for at least three years;

You must be allowed to work in the Netherlands for at least three years and have a place of residence here.

You speak, read and write Dutch and English at a professional level;

In some cases only English is sufficient, this depends on the client.
